In Brief:

We’re a non-profit group that has been teaching the traditional Japanese Martial Arts of Kendo and Iaido in the Tri-City area since 1998.  We are active members of the Canadian Kendo Federation (CKF) and BC  Kendo Federation (BCKF).  We follow the Internationl Kendo Federation (IKF) rules concerning etiquette and competitions and CKF rules for grading examinations and dojo leadership.

We have recently moved to Victoria Park Hall in East Coquitlam.  Click on “Schedule & Events” for training times and details on dojo location.

We charge a small the monthly fee in order to pay for rent and federation fees but all other activities of the dojo are volunteer.  Click on “Getting Started” for information about starting practice and if you have additional questions email us by clicking on “Contact”

The annual Vancouver Taikai is on Saturday starting at 10:00 AM.  Participants should arrive by 9:30.  For a schedule of the tournament visit http://www.vancouverkendoclub.com/taikai/index.html

01/29/09:There is a new registration process for the CKF. Each of you must register online where you will be issued a CKF ID. Please take a moment to do this in the next few days at: https://ws5.korax.net/~ckf/ckfreg/register.asp If you are currently practicing at another dojo you may wish to register under their name or under both. If you are a paid up member of Matsu Kai (you pay your $20 each month) then the dojo pays for your CKF dues annually. Otherwise, you need to take care of that yourself. If you have questions about this please let me know.
